xCassia Unviels Project for Africa's Second Tallest Building

The Tanzanian AICL Group and Edinburgh Crowland Management Ltd. Joint Venture have just announced a new project alongside design architect xCassia in Zanzibar. Named the Zanzibar Domino, the project spans the Arrivals Plaza, The Zanzibar Domino Bridge, the Zanzibar Domino, The Zanzibar Domino Tower, and The Island, Resort & Wedding Chapel — all located 15km from UNESCO’s World Heritage site of Stone Town. The 370,000m2 integrated mixed-use destination sits on a 4km-long site and is set to be Africa‘s second tallest building at 70 stories. “First sketched in Paris in 2009 after my late father, two sons and I played a round of dominos, I dreamed of building this project for over a decade. Between its innate mathematical order and geometries found in nature, its pure lines and proportions that evoke growth, progress and freedom, it had all the bearings of an icon anyone could remember and draw on a paper napkin. All it lacked was the right visionary investor and site to make it come true,” said founder and design director of xCassia, Jean-Paul Cassia. Amenities include 560 residential units, a five and six-star hotel, spas, green walls, four helipads, 104 over-water villas, an arrival dock, a three-par golf course, and F&B outdoor areas that can accommodate up to 800 guests.

Rihanna's Right, We're Not Ready for Savage X Fenty Vol. 3

Rihanna just announced that her wildly successful lingerie brand, Savage X Fenty, will take the stage once again with its third annual burlesque-meets-runway show, Savage X Fenty Vol. 3. Like Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, the extravaganza will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime. "Oh you think you ready ?!," said Rih in a typically laid-back Instagram post teasing the show and its September 24 release date. The Bad Gal herself stars in the moody trailer, which gives us major Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2003 vibes (you know, the campaign that saw Gisele Bündchen seductively pose in front of surveillance video monitors). Also, the brief clip gives fans a minuscule peek at what to expect from Savage X Fenty's upcoming season. Most notably, there's a sequined mini-dress reminiscent of RiRi's famously naked 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards gown. There's no word yet on who might walk the show, but it's typically a star-studded affair. Last year, celebs like Bad Bunny, Paris Hilton, and Lizzo took the catwalk in Savage X Fenty get-ups. Might we see more Savage X Fenty menswear? The bikers of Caramel Curves, featured in the brand's latest campaign? Or perhaps an appearance from Lil Nas X, whom Rih recruited for the launch of Fenty Skin. Maybe even A$AP Rocky, her equally stylish paramour. With less than a month to prepare for the visual feast that this show will undoubtedly be, Rih is right: we aren't ready. Now that she's officially a billionaire (Savage X Fenty is also valued at $1 billion), Vol. 3 is set to be the self-made star's biggest show yet.

Apple Car Could Be Introduced Later This Year

Amidst all the rumors that have surfaced, there are some that believe that the Apple Car could be introduced later this year. Renowned Japanese chemist Akira Yoshino, the inventor of the first safe, production-viable lithium-ion battery, recently spoke about Apple‘s foray into the automotive world in a recent interview with Reuters. Discussing the possibilities, Yoshino noted that “Apple could lead the convergence of the automotive and information technology industries in future mobility.” Going on to discuss the place of both Tesla and Apple in the electric car industry, revealing his belief that we could see the unveiling of the Apple Car later this year. “Tesla has their own independent strategy. The one to look out for is Apple. What will they do? I think they may announce something soon. And what kind of car would they announce? What kind of battery? They probably want to get in around 2025. If they do that, I think they have to announce something by the end of this year. That’s just my own personal hypothesis.”

You Can Finally Listen to Aaliyah's Music on Streaming Services

The weekend just got a whole lot better with the news that Aaliyah's music has finally been made available on streaming services. The late R&B star's final Two LPs, One in a Million and Aaliyah, have been embroiled in a legal tangle for years and arrive amidst a backdrop of a battle to control her legacy. A deal was made to reissue the records ahead of the 20th anniversary of Aaliyah's death. Aaliyah's estate shared a tweet on Twitter earlier this month that spoke of "individuals" that have "emerged from the shadows to leech off Aaliyah's work." Read it below. #IStandWithAaliyah pic.twitter.com/Q2zgAvRAgX — Aaliyah (@AaliyahHaughton) August 5, 2021 Aaliyah's music was released on the platforms via a partnership with Blackground Records 2.0 and EMPIRE. Blackground Records 2.0 is the reboot of the original Blackground Records, which released a majority of Aaliyah's music. This was owned by the late singer's uncle and former manager, Barry Hankerson, who formed the label after he struggled to attract major label interest in Aaliyah. Hankerson is behind Blackground Records 2.0. Listen to an Aaliyah Spotify playlist here.
