AMBUSH®︎ Reveals Second Collaboration With 'Astro Boy'

After teasing heart-shaped sunglasses for the summer, Yoon Ahn‘s AMBUSH®︎ now reveals a new Astro Boy necklace charm as part of its “A BOY W/ LOVE” series in collaboration with BAIT. The necklaces will be released in limited quantities alongside a new japan-exclusive matte-black Astro Boy figurine which was first unveiled in chrome earlier this year. The necklaces feature the beloved Atom character in his dynamic presentation pose, incorporating a mix of matte silver and gold finishing. An AMBUSH®︎ logo is printed on the back of the belt and a crystal heart is found on the left chest. The matte black Astroboy figure, in collaboration with cartoonist Osamu Tezuka‘s Tezuka Productions and BAIT, is found in a neet bright orange case. Arriving in the same stance as the necklaces, defining features include open-chest circuitry details with blue-tinted coils and a deep red heart. “In a future where robots and humans coexist, ASTRO BOY’s human-like qualities highlight our relationship with technology. Can artificial intelligence be better at being human than humans themselves? Can technology make us better humans? As we approach this reality, AMBUSH® is looking toward the future with ASTRO BOY,” the label writes in a press release. The Astro Boy figurines, sold for ¥264,000 JPY ($1,993 USD), are limited to 50 pieces while the necklaces priced at ¥27,500 JPY (approximately $207 USD) are limited to 300. Two-Time Formula 1 World Champion Fernando Alonso Joins Aston Martin on Multi-Year Deal

Following the announcement from Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel earlier last week on his retirement after the 2022 season, the English team has now confirmed that two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso will be taking his place on a multi-year deal from 2023 onwards. Talks of the 41-year-old driver retiring have long been passing through the paddock, but the Alpine driver is showing no interest in leaving the sport, especially after his return following a season out of Formula 1 in 2020. Having previously won two world championships with Renault back in 2005 and 2006, the Spanish racer lost out on a contract two years ago when his second stint with McLaren ended in less than ideal terms, with the team refusing to renew his contract. With Renault rebranding to Alpine in 2021, Alonso was signed on once again and will continue racing for the French team alongside teammate Esteban Ocon until the end of the current season. “This Aston Martin team is clearly applying the energy and commitment to win, and it is therefore one of the most exciting teams in Formula One today,” Alonso said in a statement. “I have watched as the team has systematically attracted great people with winning pedigrees, and I have become aware of the huge commitment to new facilities and resources at Silverstone. No one in Formula One today is demonstrating a greater vision and absolute commitment to winning, and that makes it a really exciting opportunity for me.”

BBC to Produce Three-Part Docuseries on Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook

Facebook‘s 20th anniversary is coming up in 2024, and in preparation for the tw0-decade mark of one of the world’s most influential technological events, the BBC is now working on a three-part docuseries following founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his creation of the giant social media platform. Unlike 2010’s Social Network, BBC claims it’ll be a “definitive account” of Zuckerberg and his rise in the tech industry, offering a more accurate account of events in a journalistic documentary. The broadcaster says it’ll be showcasing “key players, insider testimony, personal journals and rare archival material.” TV production company Mindhouse will be handling the project. “The remarkable story of Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook is one of the tales of our time,” said Mindhouse’s creative director Nancy Strang. “He has arguably done more to transform human behavior and connectivity than any other person this century. I’m thrilled that we’ve been given this opportunity to tell the extraordinary inside story of the social media giant, and the man behind it.” There’s no premiere date just yet for the docuseries, but it’ll be available on BBC Two and the BBC iPlayer app when it arrives sometime in 2024.
