STÜSSY'S NEXT NIKE COLLABORATION

Following its highly-anticipated Air Zoom Spiridon Caged 2 release, we now have a first look at Stüssy‘s next Nike collaboration. Early images give us a look at just what Stüssy has put together for its rumored Nike Air Zoom Spiridon KK team-up. Once again reimagining the retro silhouette, the popular imprint has applied the web cage overlay from the Air Kukini to the upper of the runner. The base upper of the shoe has also been reworked with one piece technical mesh design marked simply with Swoosh embroidery at the midfoot and Stüssy markings at the tongue. According to rumors, the Stüssy x Nike Air Zoom Spiridon KK will be releasing in the now surfaced “White/Black/Habanero Red” makeup along with a currently unrevealed “Black/White/Bright Cactus” colorway.

NETFLIX WORTH MORE THAN DISNEY DUE TO GLOBAL QUARANTINE

The devastation wrought by the coronavirus pandemic hasn’t affected all industries equally. As luxury shopping struggles, grocery storesand streaming services are well-positioned to not only stay afloat, but overachieve; in particular, Netflix is faring especially well, as outlined by Forbes. By midday on April 16, Netflix’s stock climbed 5%, hitting a record high of approximately $427 USD per share. Thanks to the self-isolation period resulting from the near-global quarantine, viewership and new subscriptions have spiked, analysts report. Netflix is now worth $194 billion USD on paper, with a $50 billion USD market bump from 2020 alone. This positions it just above Disney, now situated at approximately $184 billion USD, down from $258 billion USD at the end of 2019. Though Disney+ seems like an equal match to Netflix, the streaming service is only one branch of the Disney empire, which is dependent on tourism, merchandise and film productions to turn a profit. Meanwhile, Netflix is also implementing a production delay during the pandemic, but its breadth of backlogged programming means that it has plenty of new TV shows and movies to roll out even during a standstill. The delay also allows the company to stockpile revenue, since it’s not being used for content creation — however, over $100 million USD has been pledged to support employees affected by the production standstill. Bolstering its lead over the House of Mouse, Netflix has plenty of high-profile entertainment to premiere in April, including a Tiger King follow-up filmed via webcam and Chicago Bulls documentary The Last Dance.

ADIDAS RECEIVES €3 BILLION EUR GOVERNMENT LOAN TO OFFSET COVID-19 LOSSES

adidas‘ loan-seeking motion has been approved by a variety of banking institutions, primarily Germany’s state-owned development bank KfW. As Reuters divulged, the loan totals €3 billion EUR, approximately $3.3 billion USD. With a vast majority of its retail outposts temporarily shuttered, adidas is taking a considerable profits hit, fueling its desire to mitigate the financial impact of the coronavirus by means of a government-approved loan. “Today, the company received the approval of the German government for the participation of KfW, Germany’s state-owned development bank, in a syndicated revolving loan facility amounting to 3.0 billion euros,” adidas said in a statement. KfW committed €2.4 billion EUR to the loan while the additional €600 million EUR was provided by a collective of lenders that includes Bank of America, Citibank, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, and UniCredit. The loan comes with various stipulations; for instance, adidas must suspend dividend payments to shareholders during the loan’s duration. adidas also confirmed that executives will no longer repurchase the company’s shares and plan to forgo short- and long-term bonuses in 2020. Finally, adidas stated that it isn’t able to provide a financial outlook for 2020, but it will publicize first-quarter results on April 27. As adidas navigates the complexities of a global pandemic, it aims to create and deliver 3D-printed face shields to medical professionals.

NORTH WEST IN DRIES VAN NOTEN WAS THE BIGGEST PARIS FASHION WEEK DRIP

The outfit she’s wearing: A miniature Dries Van Noten Vaudi Faux Fur Coat; a button-up shirt with slouchy pants; and the newly released adidas Yeezy Boost 700 MNVN Location: Paris Why it works: When six-year-olds go through a color phase, it rarely goes well. North is the exception. Haters have lampooned the Cheeto-esque color palette, and to that, we say, “let the kid have a little Dries Van Noten as a treat!” The eldest of the West-Kardashian brood carries off this especially challenging shade with an unnerving seriousness that would strike fear into many a front-row guest. Bonus points for opting for an entirely cruelty-free fabric option (aunt Kylie take note). Editor’s Notes: It seems like only yesterday that North West was scowling at paparazzi in a Yeezus Tour jacket. More recently, she looks to have been exercising her sartorial independence. Although she’s remained faithful to DadYe in terms of footwear, you won’t catch her in the neutral SKIMS tones favored by her mother and aunts. This PFW drip gestures towards characters like Big Bird and the loud, unapologetic aesthetics of The Muppets. Meanwhile, the jacket’s open front design and front pockets make for a versatile playtime option. It seems as though Kim is supportive of her creative expression. After all, nothing signals motherly approval like some well-placed fire emojis.

PHARRELL WILLIAMS' $17 MILLION BEVERLY HILLS MANSION LOOKS LIKE GOOGLE HQ

Pharrell Williams has put his Beverly Hills mansion on the market and he’s asking for a cool $16,950,000. So if you’re in the market for something between an aquarium and Google HQ, then do we have a property for you. The N.E.R.D frontman bought the 10-bedroom-mansion back in 2018 from none other than Tyler Perry. Perry, who sold it for $15.6 million, is rumored to have never spent a night in the Mulholland Drive estate, and we can kind of see why. The house is stacked with luxe features, including waterfalls, a tennis court, a 200-foot-long private driveway leading up to a motor court for over 30 cars, and an enormous grotto with swim-up bar. But the multi-million dollar property is a little lacking in terms of coziness. The glass-enclosed property looks more like a big-budget swimming pool than a family home. Since the listing went up, it’s drawn comparisons to the Tony Stark estate, the facility in Planet of the Apes, an aquarium, and generic tech offices. See for yourself in the walk-through video below.

AIR NEW ZEELAND UNVEILS BUNK BED-STYLE SLEEPING PODS FOR ECONOMY FLYERS

Air New Zealand has filed a patent for new sleeping pods that would allow passengers flying in economy class to stretch out during long flights. Dubbed the “Economy Skynest,” each pod will contain six, full-length, lie-flat beds. Skynest was developed over three years of research and development in anticipation of the airline’s longest flight — a nonstop between Auckland and New York which will take up to 17 hours — that will launch in October. Arranged into two bunks with three levels each, the pods will come complete with pillows, blankets, sheets, earplugs and privacy curtains. Between each session, crew members will freshen up the pods, allowing multiple passengers to inhabit the pods during each flight. “We see a future flying experience where an economy-class customer on long-haul flights would be able to book the Economy Skynest in addition to their Economy seat, get some quality rest and arrive at their destination ready to go,” explained Nikki Goodman, Air New Zealand’s General Manager of Customer Experience.   View this post on Instagram We hear you, sometimes you just need to stretch out 😴 Our Economy #Skynest is in development to help make your dreams come true! Who’s ready for a lie down? 💤 A post shared by Air New Zealand (@airnz) on Feb 25, 2020 at 12:10pm PST   The airline will need to seek regulatory approval for the pods and make a final decision after assessing the popularity of the Auckland-New York flight. Thus, the product will not be available until late 2021. Air New Zealand has not yet released pricing for a session in one of its sleeping pods. APPLE WILL PAY $500M USD TO SETTLE IPHONE PERFORMANCE THROTTLING LAWSUIT

Apple has tentatively agreed to pay a lawsuit settlement of $500 million USD in regards to its performance throttling controversy from late 2017. According to reports, the proposed class-action settlement covers the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone SE that ran iOS 1o.2.1 or above, along with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus that ran iOS 11.2 or above before December 21, 2017. Apple will be required to pay these users $25 USD per iPhone — the price varying depending on how many iPhone units are qualified — amounting to a minimum total payout of $310 million USD. If the payments exceed the $500 million USD cap, each iPhone owner will receive a smaller payout. Court papers reveal that Apple denied any misconduct and decided to settle the lawsuit in order to avoid the hassles of litigation. The controversy of throttling was exposed in 2017 by a then-17-year-old Tyler Barney, who discovered that Apple purposely slowed down processors on older iPhones with low battery capacity. Barney implied that this move was done to tempt users to upgrade their devices, but the tech giant greatly disputed the claim.

ADER ERROR SS20 "VADER" COLLECTION

ADER error has returned for Spring/Summer 2020 with its latest creative offering, this time around delivering the alien-themed “Vader” collection. “Vader” is inspired by the alien world, referencing an alien’s natural habitat for many of the collection’s graphics and color schemes. As a result, pieces are adorned with designs that are inspired by the retro video game Space Invaders, while logos appear in various reworked forms such as the “White ADER logo” as a human’s perspective, the “Silver ADER logo” as an alien’s perspective, and others such as a warped black-and-green version. Staying true to itself, ADER error combines elements of tradition with functionality and technicality, seen most visibly in pieces such as the pinstriped button-up shirt that’s finished with toggles. Other notable pieces from the SS20 collection include an oversized green sweater that’s contrasted by red and purple details, and the purple “ADER Invaders” T-shirt. Check out ADER error’s “Vader” collection for SS20 in the gallery above, and shop everything on the ADER error website and in select stockists worldwide now.
