ADIDAS OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCES YEEZY BOOST 700 MNVN "PHOSPHOR" & "BONE"

Kanye West‘s adidas YEEZY line has officially announced the YEEZY BOOST 700 MNVN in two new colorways: “Phosphor” & “Bone.” One of the newest silhouettes in West and the Trefoil’s long-running partnership, the MNVN provides a more boldly branded look than most other YEEZY styles, and calls to mind images of hiking footwear with its chunky, technical build. “Phosphor” and “Bone” are decidedly on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to color — the former uses a vivid neon yellow, the latter an earth tone that’s similar to August 2019’s YEEZY 500 “Bone White.” Although the primary hues may be divergent, the rest of the construction is uniform. Bold silver “700” hits are front and center on the synthetic uppers, while hi-vis reflective detailing hits heel and forefoot overlays. Thick black midsoles with the same shape as the YEEZY BOOST 700 and YEEZY BOOST 700 V2 are stuffed chock-full of bouncy BOOST cushioning to complete the look. Early reports stated that both “Phosphor” and “Bone” would be city-exclusive drops, but both will see a global release in full family sizes. The “Phosphor” is set for April 24, while we won’t see the “Bone” until July 11, contrary to initial speculation that it too would release in April. Each style’s MSRP is uniform, with men’s pairs priced at $220 USD, kids at $160 USD and infants at $140 USD. Both will be available via the adidas webstore, YEEZY Supply and retailers like Footpatrol.

DRAKE'S RARE "TOOSIE SLIDE" RAF BOMBER JUST RESOLD FOR OVER $15K

A super-rare “Riot Riot Riot Camo Bomber” from Raf Simons‘ Fall/Winter 2001 re-entered the public imagination this month when Drake donned it for his “Toosie Slide” video — so much so that it has resold for €14,000 ($15,244) on the Vestiaire Collective. Given the silhouette is regarded as one of the ten most iconic Raf Simons pieces of all time, $14,000 is actually a steal considering the seller was reportedly asking for $22,263 earlier this week. While that might sound like a lot to drop on a bomber, this is a jacket that once resold on Grailed for a jaw-dropping $47,000 back in 2018. At the time it was resale platform’s highest sold item to date. The “Riot Riot Riot” Camo bomber is an archive piece from Raf Simons’ critically lauded Fall/ Winter 2001 collection. The FW01 show was considered a pivotal moment in menswear history after Simons returned to the industry following a one-year sabbatical. He then embarked on shaking up the status quo of slim-fit suiting with oversized silhouettes, hoodies, and grungy youthful models.  The piece is crafted from an oversized Fortex bomber with patches depicting David Bowie, Richy Edwards from the Manic Street Preachers, and a Bauhaus poster. Notable for foreshadowing an obsession with subcultural figures that would inform the rest of Raf Simons oeuvre for years to come. It’s been seen on the likes of Kanye West, who wore it for several weeks straight in 2007.

SONY MAY MAKE LESS THAN 6 MILLION PLAYSTATION 5 UNITS IN FIRST YEAR

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Sony is expected to produce less than 6 million PlayStation 5 consoles in its first year. This is partly due to its speculated production cost and COVID-19 stifling promotional plans for the hardware. Sources close to Sony PlayStation suggest its assembly partners are only producing 5 to 6 million units in the fiscal year ending in March 2021. Sony previously released its PlayStation 4 for $399 USD in November 2013 and it went on to sell 7.5 million units in the first two quarters. Developers expect the PS5 to be priced around $499 USD to $549 USD, which Bloomberg suggests is due to the scarce components needed to build the unit. It’s been previously reported that due to the manufacturing cost of the product, the company is finding it difficult to keep the selling price under $450 USD. According to sources, Sony plans to sell its PS4 and PlayStation 4 Pro at a lower cost around the time of the PS5 launch in order to garner new PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now subscribers. Sony’s Chief Executive Officer Kenichiro Yoshida has stated the company will “aim to increase recurring revenue rather than one-time hardware purchases.” Production volume is still up for changes depending on how the pandemic turns out, but Sony will unlikely delay the launch of PS5 from the Holiday season, especially if the next-gen Xbox, which is expected to arrive around the same time, doesn’t delay either.
