Kanye West and Drake Have Reportedly Squashed Their Beef

Kanye West and Drake have allegedly stopped beefing, just in time for the release of DONDA. Yeezy season is upon us, with Kanye’s tenth studio album set to release very soon. All week, Ye has dropped hints surrounding the mixtape, even making a return to social media for the upcoming release. The last few years have been tumultuous for the Kanye and Drake fans as the two have appeared to be feuding on and off, taking jabs at one another, sneaking in petty references in their lyrical flow. In one of Ye’s Wyoming studio sessions, he offered to send Drake a sample that the Toronto rapper had fallen in love with. However, when the two had their falling out, Kanye barred Drake from using the sample, dropping his “poopity scoop” bars on “Lift Yourself”. With Kanye set to release Donda by the end of the week and Drake impending release of his highly-anticipated album Certified Lover Boy, industry executive Karen Civil took to Twitter to denounce any rumors that Drake would drop his album on the same day just to spite Ye. She revealed, “The friends now. He not [gonna drop on the same day].”

An Apple II Manual Signed by Steve Jobs Auctions for Nearly $800,000 USD

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has purchased a Steve Jobs signed Apple II Manual for $787,484 USD at RR Auction. The item in question is a 196-page guide that details the technical architecture and operations of the Apple II. The manual also features a fold-out schematic of the computer’s main logic board. Steven Jobs, 1980,” and another signature below by Apple’s angel investor and second CEO, “Mike Markkula 1980.” At the time of the signature, it was expected that Jobs and Markkula were in the UK promoting Apple, growing it from a start-up to a global phenomenon. Canadian R&B crooner, The Weeknd just dropped $70 million USD on a home in one of Los Angeles’ most coveted neighborhoods of Bel-Air. According to the Wall Street Journal, the lavish home is expected to be one of the priciest California home sales of 2021. The approximately 33,000-square-foot megamansion includes a gym, movie theater, music studio, sauna, hammam, tennis court and an indoor pool as well as an outdoor infinity pool that doubles as a waterfall. The exterior of the house sees a dramatic split staircase that takes you from the lawn to the upper patio. The property spans across 1.6 acres of land and overlooks the Bel-Air Country Club. The previous owners of the home were Dutch media mogul couple Reinout and Danielle Oerlemans. Reinout founded TV production company Eyeworks while Danielle Oerlemans was a pro-cyclist. The couple first bought the home in 2015 for $21.4 million USD but spent an additional three years on renovations to add 13,000 square feet of space to the aforementioned amenities. The Oerlemans were responsible for giving the house its current contemporary aesthetic, which now has the home featuring numerous of unique details including an orange-gloss painted living room, leather belts repurposed as kitchen drawer handles and a slew of subtle wooden sunburst panels for the office. Following the huge success of his 2020 song “Blinding Lights,” it comes as no surprise that multi-platinum selling artist has made a purchase nearing $100 million USD. Netflix Unveils Trailer of 'Blood Brothers: Malcolm X & Muhammad Ali' Documentary

Netflix has released the official trailer of Marcus A. Clarke’s upcoming documentary, Blood Brothers: Malcolm X & Muhammad Ali. Produced by black-ish‘s Kenya Barris and Jason Perez, the docu will detail the “extraordinary story behind the friendship —and the ultimate falling out— of two of the most iconic figures of the 20th century” with interviews from their family members and never-before-seen footage: “For three pivotal years, Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X forged a brotherhood that would not only change both men but change the world. Blood Brothers: Malcolm X & Muhammad Ali tells the extraordinary story behind the friendship —and the ultimate falling out— of two of the most iconic figures of the 20th century. Few people understand the bond these men shared. In this new feature-length documentary from producer Kenya Barris, director Marcus A. Clarke offers a fresh perspective by using insider voices and never-before-seen footage to chart this most complex of friendships, tracing the near simultaneous and symbiotic rise of the charismatic and outspoken Olympic champion who charmed the nation, and the ex-con-turned intellectual revolutionary who railed against oppression. Through interviews with those closest to them — Malcolm X’s daughter Ilyasah Shabazz, Ali’s brother Rahman and daughters Maryum and Hana — and cultural luminaries such as Cornel West and Al Sharpton, the film illuminates their meeting, bonding, and eventual falling out over discord within the leadership of the Nation of Islam. Inspired by the book “Blood Brothers” written by Randy Roberts and Johnny Smith, the film is directed by Marcus A. Clarke (Unsolved Mysteries, Rapture), produced by Kenya Barris and Jason Perez and executive produced by Erynn Sampson, Jonathan Chinn, Simon Chinn, Simon George and Marcus A. Clarke.” Watch the full trailer above. Blood Brothers: Malcolm X & Muhammad Ali premieres September 9 on Netfix.

Did Messi Really Crush Ronaldo’s First-Week Juventus Shirt Sales?

When Lionel Messi was announced as Paris Saint-Germain’s newest player, fans, the media, and the entire footballing world went mad. People waited in lines rivaling those of the good old sneaker camp-out days to buy the Argentine’s jersey outside the official PSG store in Paris. Stock reportedly sold out in record time on the club’s online store. Take a quick browse on Twitter, and you’ll see astronomical figures being shared. Some say that PSG sold 250,000 Messi jerseys in an hour on their official site. Other football news sites claim that the 150,000 jerseys sold in seven minutes. The wildest figure of all, however, is that PSG sold over 830,000 jerseys in the first 24 hours after Messi’s signing was announced. To put that into context, when Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Juventus in 2018, it was reported that the Old Lady moved 520,000 jerseys in the first 24 hours. Back then, Ronaldo’s record blitzed Neymar’s 10,000 jersey sales when the Brazilian moved from Barcelona to PSG the summer prior. Now it seems that Messi’s figures wallop those of his Portuguese arch-rival. Neither Ronaldo’s nor Messi’s reported units shifted are verifiable. With so many numbers floating around for Messi’s shirt sales — and the fact that his transfer was a surprise to everyone involved — it’s highly likely that the figure is somewhat lower than what is being reported. But if you’re assuming Messi’s real numbers are lower than the reported figures, then you’d have to assume the same for Ronaldo’s from three years ago. However you spin it, both players definitely sold a lot of jerseys in their first few days at their new clubs. Considering the magnitude of Messi’s transfer, it’s not hard to believe that he really did sell more shirts now than Ronaldo did in 2018, but there’s no way to verify that. The 830,000 sales figure, initially reported by Marca, would mean that around $105 million in revenue was brought in from shirt sales alone. This prompted a lot of (uninformed) people to claim that Messi’s shirt sales would pay for his salary of around $41 million a year. PSG, like most clubs, only receives a certain (small) percentage of sales in royalties from Nike, thought to be between 5 to 10 percent. This means that the actual income from those shirt sales — if over 800,000 were sold — is probably less than one-tenth of the reported figure. Not enough to pay for Messi’s wages, but still very nice pocket change and one of the perks of having arguably the best footballer of all time on your team. As Highsnobiety reported earlier, Messi’s departure is estimated to leave a $160 million hole in Barcelona’s brand value. It makes total sense that the player’s marketability and his value on and off the pitch will benefit his new employer going forward. Shirt sales, of course, are part of that.

Jordan Brand Officially Announces the Air Jordan 36

When crafting new performance silhouettes for its hoop athletes, Jordan Brand always puts its best foot forward when it comes to technologically evolving its footwear category, and that’s certainly the case of its latest proposition to the basketball market: the Air Jordan 36. The primary ethos for this new silhouette can be summed up in one word — “light”. Between the company’s many design teams, they were able to engineer the kicks with a new jacquard leno-weave upper build which provides wearers with ample breathability and a lighter feel, a double-stacked full-length Zoom Air Strobel unit and a fine-tuned plate system. “We want those who love the brand to see something that’s always been a part of our design legacy: the power of teamwork that goes on between a core group of folks to create product excellence,” says Martin Lotti, VP, Jordan Brand Design. “Jordan Brand is inspired by one man, but it’s carried into the future by many, many people who are experts in their field.” The beauty is in the details for this new hardwood-ready model. Several elements are implemented to nod to the Air Jordan 6 — the very kicks that MJ won his first championship in — such as the lace shroud, the cutouts on the treading and the furnishings on the heels. Design-wise, the brand took a different direction and decided not to expose the Zoom bags — a detail that was utilized for the Air Jordan 34 and Air Jordan 35 — and instead bring in a ribbon-foam material that runs throughout the midsole. “We weren’t focused on exposing the bags anymore. We wanted to connect the ribbon and cover up the plate system,” said Jordan Brand Footwear Designer Tate Keurbis. “In doing so, we brought in subtle details from the Air Jordan VI and created a tooling that conveys Michael’s lasting influence in worldwide culture.” Several colorways are slated to drop in the coming weeks starting with the “Glory” colorway which drops on August 16 (global) and August 17 (China). Following that will be Guo Ailun‘s PE which launches on August 17 in China, Kia Nurse’s PE on August 17 (Canada and LA), Jayson Tatum’s PE on August 21 (North America), Rui Hachimura‘s PE on August 22 (Asia and Latin America), the “First Light” colorway on August 29 (China) and September 2 (global), Luka Dončić’s PE on September 4, (Asia, Latin America and Europe) and the “Psychic Energy” makeup on September 16 (global).

Kanye’s ‘DONDA’ Event Breaks Record for Highest-Grossing U.S. Tour Solely Off of Its Merch Sales

Kanye West has broken the record for the highest-grossing U.S. tour based on DONDA in-person merchandise sales alone, according to Billboard, which began tracking touring data in 1990. Clocking in $7 million USD in revenue just from its merchandise, the second DONDA listening event on August 5 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium beat out previous record holder Taylor Swift, who grossed a little under $7 million USD per show for 2018’s Reputation Stadium Tour. Balenciaga creative director Demna Gvasalia, designed the highly sought-after event merchandise, which included $100 USD beige and black versions of long-sleeve shirts that were printed with a Star of David with a crucifix in its center and read “DONDA 8/5/2021 Mercedes-Benz Stadium Atlanta.” Gvasalia has collaborated with West before, contributing designs to the YEEZY Season 1 debut back in 2015. West has also been noted as a fan of the Georgian designer’s work, pictured wearing the Gvasalia-founded label Vetements over the years. $7 million USD happens to be the same amount that West pulled in revenue for a $200 USD YEEZY x Gap blue puffer coat from his new collaboration with the brand. Former Gap CEO Mickey Drexler told Yahoo Finance that sales of the jacket racked up that much in revenue overnight following its release. Simultaneously, the second DONDA event broke another record as the most-watched Apple Music livestream ever, garnering 5.4 million online viewers, Billboard reported. DONDA, the tenth studio album of West’s, is currently available to pre-save on Apple Music and lists a pre-release date of August 13.

The Legendary Lamborghini Countach Is Back & It's Been Worth the 50 Year Wait

The Lamborghini Countach, the poster car of the seventies and eighties, is back. Unveiled during the prestigious main event at Monterey’s Car Week at Pebble Beach this week, the supercar returns to honor the 50th anniversary of the original release. The new Countach — Lamborghini refers to the series as "the patriarch of modern super sports car design” — is called the LPI 800-4 and is part of the "Few Off" program for unique cars. LPI is an acronym for Longitudinale Posteriore Ibrido, or Longitudinal Posterior Hybrid; 800 is a reference to the rounding down of the engine’s 814cv maximum combined power; and 4 to its permanent four-wheel drive transmission. That's the boring stuff out the way, so how does it shift? As you'd expect, this thing is ridiculous. It features a V12 engine with a 48V electric motor that allows it to retain its original throaty engine growl. The engine generates 780 horsepower with its electric motor pumping our 34 horsepower through its permanent four-wheel drive transmission. This means it can reach zero to 62 miles per hour in just 2.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 220 mph. Design-wise, the new Countach takes cues from its predecessors, combining 1970s retro angles and lines with 21st-century aerodynamics. Differentiating from the original, there's a rounder nose and a rear that feels a lot less sharp. Simply put, it looks stunning. Inside, it's just as advanced, with the car’s controls managed through an 8.4-inch touchscreen.   Presenting Countach LPI 800-4. Powered by the hybrid V12 engine it goes beyond the expected. It’s a Super Sports Car for the future. #Lamborghini #Countach #FutureIsOurLegacyCO2 Emission and Fuel consumption Combined: https://t.co/zr6fo0ia3H pic.twitter.com/sZm2UcFbGr — Lamborghini (@Lamborghini) August 13, 2021   “Whenever I look at it, the Countach gives me goosebumps and serves as the perfect reminder to design every future Lamborghini in a visionary and futuristic way," says head of Lamborghini Centro Stile, Mitja Borkert. "The first Countach shaped the Lamborghini design DNA like no other car; the new Countach translates that unconventional and edgy character into the future." Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann was equally effusive in a statement. He said: “The Countach LPI 800-4 is a visionary car of the moment, just as its forerunner was. [The car] pays homage to this Lamborghini legacy but it is not retrospective: it imagines how the iconic Countach of the 70s and 80s might have evolved into an elite super sports model of this decade.” In 1971, the Countach, drawn by Marcello Gandini, one of the 20th century's greatest car designers, was presented to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show. No series production was planned, but the whip, which still holds up in terms of how design today, was greeted with such enthusiasm among diehard car fans that company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini had a ready-to-drive prototype built. By 1974, it had reached production and would go on to become an icon of its time. As you might expect from the "Few Off" series, the new Countach is extremely limited. Only 112 units of the Countach LPI 800-4 will be made available, with prices rumored to be no less than $2 million.

Louis Vuitton Drops a Trio of "LV Comics Earrings" That Are Inspired by Abloh's Core Themes

For better or for worse, Virgil Abloh has taken Louis Vuitton (PARIS:MC.PA -1.52%) to new heights, introducing oddities such as the coffee cup and carrot-shaped bags as well as jewelry that has adorned the necks, wrists, and ears of anyone who’s anyone, and now for Fall/Winter 2021, the label releases its “LV Comics Earrings.” Coming straight from the FW21 “Ebonics / Snake Oil / The Black Box / Mirror, Mirror” collection, this trio of earrings are inspired by the house’s seasonal themes of travel and architecture — two things that prevail throughout Abloh’s catalog of work. As a result, the trio includes the LV initials, an airplane featuring the Monogram Flower motif debossed into it, and a hammer that dangles from the aforementioned flower emblem. Each piece is made from metal and is colored in either shiny silver or gold, and has been polished for a dazzling finish. Each is backed onto a standard ear piercing fastener. As of writing, the LV Comics Earrings have sold out online but are due for a restock, however, they are available in-store in the U.K. for £335 GBP (approx. $465 USD).
