ELON MUSK ANNOUNCES 146,000 TESLA CYBERTRUCKS HAVE BEEN PREORDERED

Yesterday, just two days after the unveiling of Tesla’s Cybertruck, the automaker’s founder, Elon Musk, tweeted that the company had already sold 146,000 vehicles via preorder, and because these reservations require a $100 USD refundable deposit, Tesla has tallied $14.6 million USD in 48 hours. Of course, there is no telling how many drivers will actually go through with the purchase of this angular electric truck, whose price ranges from $39,900 USD to $69,900 USD, but it should bring a bit of optimism to the often scrutinized company. The Cybertruck has been met with a lot of skepticism and polarizing thoughts, many for it and many against, with a large number of Wall Street analysts among the latter. However, with the amount of interest in the obscure-looking car, evident by the aforementioned presale numbers, it may be safe to say Musk has another hit among his loyal followers; safer than the truck’s glass that is. 146k Cybertruck orders so far, with 42% choosing dual, 41% tri & 17% single motor — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 23, 2019

POPSOCKETS INTRODUCES NEW POPGRIP AIRPODS HOLDER ACCESSORY

PopSockets have released a brand new accessory that combines the brand’s titular iPhoneholder with Apple‘s AirPods earbud case. The PopGrip is designed to fit the Charging Case and Wireless Charging Case of an Apple AirPod, and is compatible to hold a regular PopSocket accessory. To swap, you just close the grip flat, press down, and twist 90 degrees to swap out the top. This also allows for wireless charging for the iPhone. The AirPods can also be wirelessly charged while stored in the holder. The LED light is visible through the holder and has a charging port at the bottom. Although it can also stick to cases, PopSockets leaves a disclaimer that states its best on smooth, hard plastic cases. And although it’s compatible with iPhone 11; it will not stick to iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11Pro Max without a suitable case. Grab a PopGrip AirPods Holder in mint, black, white, purple, and cobalt for $20 USD.     Keep your AirPods right where you want 'em. Meet PopGrip AirPods holder. Totes compatible with our regular PopGrip base so you can swap out and go, go, go. https://t.co/phquBL6fYh pic.twitter.com/cPax636LIS — PopSockets (@PopSockets) November 20, 2019

THE VICTORIA'S SECRET 2019 FASHION SHOW IS OFFICIALLY CANCELED

According to WWD on Instagram, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show for 2019 has officially been canceled. Stuart B. Burgdoerfer, chief financial officer and executive vice president of parent company L Brands states “We think it’s important to evolve the marketing of Victoria’s Secret” as a response. ORIGINAL STORY (July 30, 2019): Due to declining viewership, the annual Victoria’s Secretfashion show was already getting the axe from network television. Now, reports indicated that the event may be gone for good, at least this year, as revealed by model Shanina Shaik. As reported by the Daily Mail, the 28-year-old Australian model, who appeared in several Victoria’s Secret runway shows from 2011 – 2018, told The Daily Telegraph that the show may have been canceled for 2019. “Unfortunately the Victoria’s Secret show won’t be happening this year,” she said. “It’s something I’m not used to because every year around this time I’m training like an angel. But I’m sure in the future something will happen, which I’m pretty sure about. I’m sure they’re trying to work on branding and new ways to do the show because it’s the best show in the world.” This news, which has yet to be confirmed by Victoria’s Secret itself, follows the late 2018 controversy sparked by the company’s CMO Ed Razek during an interview with Vogue in which he “not only used an outdated word to describe the transgender community, but also seemed to suggest that a transgender model couldn’t be a part of the Victoria’s Secret ‘fantasy,’” per ELLE. Furthermore, the shows may be a significant financial strain to Victoria’s Secret — The New York Times cited costs of approximately $20 million USD for 2016’s presentation — though president and CEO Sharon Turny asserted in 2015 that they “pay for [themselves] several times over.” Again, Victoria’s Secret has not affirmed that its 2019 fashion show actually is canceled, but Shaina’s statements and the lack of support from network television would suggest a big shift, to say the least. For now, relive the 2018 fashion show below.   View this post on Instagram No “angels" this Christmas. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Victoria’s Secret’s Angels won’t be strutting their stuff down the catwalk this year. TRAVEL: JAPANESE HOTEL ALLOWS GUESTS TO STAY FOR $1 USD PER NIGHT

A hotel in Japan is letting guests stay a night for just $1 USD per night — the only condition is that they must livestream their experience. Thinking of ways to draw customers into the family-run hotel, the idea came to 27-year-old Tetsuya Inoue, who’s helping his grandmother with the business, after seeing one YouTuber vlogging his stay, garnering some attention from curious visitors. Located in Fukuoka, Asahi Ryokan, which has since changed its domain to onedollarhotel.com, is currently limiting this bold marketing technique to a single room. There are some restrictions that protect the streamer’s privacy, too; for instance, it’s all video-only, which means guests will be able to talk without anyone hearing them. Not only is the sound removed from the stream, but guests are allowed to have the room lights off and the bathroom area is completely hidden from view. In a statement, Inoue mentioned the hotel’s age as a motivating factor for creating the initiative. He began brainstorming a new, modern approach to improving the business: “Our hotel is on the cheaper side, so we need some added value, something special that everyone will talk about.” So far, four guests have already taken up the deal. “Young people nowadays don’t care much about privacy,” says Inoue. “Some of them say it’s OK to be [watched] for just one day.” There are currently several vacancies that you can book on Asahi Ryokan’s website and livestreams are currently hosted on One Dollar Hotel’s YouTube channel. Elsewhere, Harajuku Station will be demolished after the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. Asahi Ryokan2-6-2 KiyokawaChuo-ku, FukuokaJapan

ZAHA HADID ARCHITECTS COMPLETE WORLD'S TALLEST ATRIUM IN BEIJING

Zaha Hadid Architects have completed the world’s tallest atrium, Beijing’s Leeza SOHO. Located in the Chinese capital’s southwestern region, the building sits on Lize Road, anchoring Fengtai business district — the sprawling financial and transporting hub located between the city center and brand new Beijing Daxing International Airport, also designed by Hadid’s team of architects. The 45-story building remains a brand new office space for small and medium-sized businesses and received LEED Gold certification by the US Green Building Council. The building’s two halves feature a unique rotating “pas de deux” construction, both of which are connected via skybridges across a variety of floors. This allows for a luxurious panoramic view of the city while still maintaining its sculpture-like design quality. Among these sustainable features include double-insulated glass curtain walls systems that allow for efficient environmental control for each floor, highly-efficient filters that remove air particulates via the air-handling system, external water-collection fixtures, an insulating green roof that harvests solar energy, and more.

A MICHAEL JACKSON BIOPIC IS IN THE WORKS

A Michael Jackson biopic is in the works from Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King. King and the Jackson estate struck a deal for the artist’s life and music rights in order to develop a feature film based on his life. Screenwriter John Logan (Gladiator, The Aviator) will pen the script, and according to Deadline, will not serves as a “sanitized rendering of Jackson’s life.” The duo previously worked together on Martin Scorsese‘s The Aviator as well as his family film Hugo. The film comes off the heels of HBO‘s recent Emmy-winning documentary Leaving Neverland, in which the estate sued the network for $100 million USD for airing it without their consent. Despite the lingering controversy surrounding the artist, there is still an appetite for his music and story. A Broadway musical called MJ: The Musical is also set to debut next year.   An authorized Michael Jackson biopic is in the works from the singer's estate and the producer of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' https://t.co/OIh6rjmMGX pic.twitter.com/OaBnEERjTi — Rolling Stone (@RollingStone) November 22, 2019 EXCLUSIVE: #BohemianRhapsody producer Graham King has secured from the #MichaelJackson estate the rights to make a film of the complicated pop icon’s life with access to all of his music, sources say https://t.co/ZnaD0NJ9AW — Deadline Hollywood (@DEADLINE) November 22, 2019
