TAKE A TOUR OF FRIDA KAHLO'S HOUSE IN MEXICO CITY FROM YOUR OWN HOME

For those looking to escape the confines of their home for a short while during quarantine, viewers can now go inside Frida Kahlo’s home in Mexico City through a 360 degree virtual tour. The virtual exhibition, titled “Appearances Can Be Deceiving,” features over 300 pieces of Kahlo’s belongings and gives viewers a closer look at the private world of one of the most celebrated female artists. Also known as Casa Azul, the eye-catching blue villa was where Kahlo spent the majority of her life. The house includes the original furniture from when she lived there, as well as her personal possessions, like brightly colored skirts, embroidered blouses and a traditional Mexican dress. Some of the painter’s most important works, like Long Live Life, Frida and the Caesarian Operation and Portrait of My Father are on display, along with works by her husband Diego Rivera. The artist’s prosthetic leg, which was made following the amputation of her right leg in 1953, is found in her bedroom. In the kitchen, a bright yellow table marks the spot where Kahlo and communist revolutionary Leon Trotsky spent time together. Gardens surrounding the blue villa are filled with lush plants, while the courtyard houses Aztec and Toltec statuettes. Check out “Appearances Can Be Deceiving” for yourself via the virtual tour. A$AP FERG SHOWS HIS ART-FILLED HOME IN LATEST 'ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST' VIDEO TOUR

A$AP Ferg is the latest prominent figure to appear on Architectural Digest‘s home tour series. Based out in New Jersey, Fergenstein reflects on the differences from growing up in Harlem versus his now-quiet neighbourhood. Having spent just a little over year in his new home, Ferg goes on the explain how his line of work and travels as an artist have helped shape and design the interior of his home — from trinkets from Liberia and Russia, furniture from Kelly Infield, down to paintings from his brother Jay West. While the video only goes on to show the kitchen, living room, and dining room, Ferg breaks down in detail some of the more sentimental artworks he owns, including a painting from 2003 dedicated to his late father, where he later reveals that he had the same painting converted into a large handmade rug. JORDAN 5 "FIRE RED" HEATS UP THIS WEEK'S BEST FOOTWEAR DROPS

May is right around the corner, and the world’s biggest footwear brands are starting the new month/sending off April in style with a diverse slate of drops. There’s Air Jordans both classic and new, compelling collaborations, signature hoop shoes and more — but before we dive into the vat of forthcoming footwear, let’s take a brief refresher on last week’s goings-on. The news around upcoming Nike collaborations was undeniably strong. Cactus Plant Flea Market was one of the Swoosh’s biggest collaborative partners in 2019, a relationship that’s set to continue into 2020 with two fresh Dunks. UNDEFEATED is reportedly working on a trifecta of Air Max 97s, and Stüssy has readied a black and gray take on its Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2, adding further to the roster of its early “shoe of the year” contender. That wasn’t the only Stüssy Spiridon news though. We were also given an on-foot look at the Spiridon KK, a laceless shoe that adds the Nike Air Kukini’s signature upper cage for a hybrid build. Jordan Brand made some noise with several Air Jordan 1s, ranging from the luxurious “Satin Snake” to the sporty “Game Royal,” the latter of which is an update on a popular style from February 2018. Rare PEs continue to be turned into accessible GRs, with early rumors swirling that the Air Jordan 5 “Oregon” would release this fall. Virgil Abloh and Kanye West had their standard moments in the spotligh toot. Abloh offered a rare look at the process behind his design-work by revealing the first-ever Off-White™ x Air Jordan 1 sample. Meanwhile, West’s omnipresent YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 popped up in new “Asriel” and “Israfil” colorways. West’s YEEZY cohort Jon Wexler also sat down for the first installment of adidas’s new “Creator Class,” and partook in an exclusive Q&A session for HYPEBEAST as well. On the sports front, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s brand-new Nike Zoom Freak 2 was unveiled, offering a striking departure from his first model. Reebok and Nice Kicks got into the action with a special Question “Bubba Chuck,” inspired by Allen Iverson’s love of fishing. Moving from the hardwood to the gridiron, Nike Football whipped up special NFL Draft footwear for some of its newest team members like #1 overall pick Joe Burrow. Lastly, the COVID-19 coronavirus continued to exact a steep toll on businesses: adidas’s Q1 sales fell 19% from last year, and StockX was forced to lay off 12% of its workforce. Now that you’re caught up, take a look at a hand-selected list of this week’s dozen best releases below. Head over to our Drops page to see more, and — as always — please note that some releases may well be pushed bac due to COVID-19’s adverse impact.

ACNE STUDIOS DELIVERS VIBRANT STAPLES WITH FW20 FACE COLLECTION

After delivering its AI-themed Fall/Winter 2020 collection at Paris Fashion Week Men’s earlier this January, Swedish imprint Acne Studios has now returned with a new lookbook for its Face line. The collection, based around the brand’s iconic Face logo, moves away from the runway, orienting itself towards daily staples and ready-to-wear unisex garments. Utilizing the unmistakable motif for the collection’s basis, the brand has reworked the logo into various iterations, from elevated enamel patches to oversized rubber patches, reflective patches, and more. Bright colors underpin the motif, whereby seasonal additions of blue, pink, jade, orange, yellow, green, and brown come into play. Highlights include striped knits and cardigans with thin doubles stripes and cut-and-sewn stripes, with other pieces utilizing checked plaid for contrast. The collection doesn’t shy away from Acne Studios’ love for the outdoors, either. A rain poncho and long-hooded raincoat arrive alongside padded coach and half-zip jackets, with other basics offered in the form of velour tracksuits, overshirts, straight leg jeans, shorts, T-shirts, as well as a slew of everyday accessories such as bucket hats, caps, beanies, bum bags, and more.

TESLA'S NEW SOFTWARE UPDATE IDENTIFIES TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS ON AUTOPILOT

Tesla has rolled out a new software update that allows its vehicles to identify traffic lights and stop signs on autopilot. It’s one of many new features that the innovative automaker has been working on as of late, like “reverse summon” (auto park) function that Elon Musk announced just last week. The new update is aptly called “Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control.” According to Tesla, the technology is “designed to recognize and respond to traffic lights and stop signs, slowing your car to a stop when using Traffic-Aware Cruise Control or Autosteer.” It’s meant to make your vehicle decelerate for all traffic lights, including green and yellow, signaling with a notification that it’s preparing to stop at an intersection. One video on YouTube tests out this feature. Bryan, hosting the video, emphasizes that the update is still in its beta stages and that anyone using it should pay extra attention, keeping all hands close to the wheel and foot close to the brake. While the video demonstrates the autopilot’s self-stopping capabilities, there were some moments where autopilot didn’t work smoothly, like when the vehicle moved into a turning lane on its own. The video also shows how autopilot waits for confirmation from the driver to proceed through the intersection as a precautionary measure: the driver needs to step on the acceleration to continue forward. Byran indicates that the new update is a great step for Tesla for “full” autopilot but still needs some work.

ROLLS-ROYCE SHIFTS FOCUS FROM CAR MANUFACTURING TO HONEY PRODUCTION

As production for its luxury automobiles is at a standstill, due to COVID-19, Rolls-Royce has taken matters into its own hands by shifting and boosting focus towards its lesser-known product — honey. Based in Goodwood, West Sussex, the 42-acre Rolls‑Royce apiary is home to some 250,000 English Rolls-Royce honey bees living in six hives. While this news seems almost like a good April Fools’ joke, the apiary has, in fact, been operational since 2017, producing some of the world’s most exclusive honey. Each English-crafted beehive sees a steel nameplate from Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke workshop, and are named after each premium flagship vehicle – “Phantom,” “Wraith,” “Ghost,” “Dawn,” “Cullinan,” with the last one being named the “Spirit of Ecstasy.” This act of preserving and sustaining the English bee population is part of Rolls-Royce’s wider efforts in raising the bar for environmental practices.
