FIRST CAME THE HIGHS, NOW COME THE FRAGMENT X TRAVIS SCOTT LOWS

With the high-top release out of the way, Travis Scott's fragment design-assisted Air Jordan 1 Low is next up. Today, official images of the much-anticipated pair have surfaced, along with release information courtesy of END. Per the retailer, the low-tops will in fact be arriving on August 13, confirming previous reports. The low-top version of the AJ1 is dressed in a similar white, black, and royal blue color scheme as the high-top model from Scott and fragment. The shoe is done up in white leather, with black and royal blue overlays, as the reverse Swoosh design from the earlier Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 is also featured, this time rendered in sail and black tumbled leather. Additional branding emerges on the tongue tags where "Nike Air" resides and the heels which incorporate Cactus Jack and fragment design iconography, as well as the Jordan ball and wings logo. Nike has yet to announce the release date for the fragment design x Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low, but seeing as retailers have already begun to list the pair as launching on August 13, the date appears to be set in stone. While you wait for the drop, you can check out our beginner's guide to Travis' sneaker collabs here.

Twitter Is Testing A New In-App Shopping Feature

Twitter on Wednesday announced that it is testing a new feature that allows users to shop and purchase products through an in-app window. Dubbed, “The Shop Module,” the pilot offers a dedicated space at the top of a profile where businesses can clearly list their products in a carousel. Upon visiting a profile with an enabled Shop Module, users can tap through the products to learn more information, view pricing details and make a purchase seamlessly through the app. The feature will first be available to a small group of brands in the U.S., including GameStop, Arden Cove, and approximately 10 other brands. The Shop Module will be available to users in the U.S. who use Twitter in English on iOS devices beginning Wednesday. “With this pilot, we’ll get to explore how our engaged, responsive and chatty audience reacts to products that are emotionally charged — like a new jersey from your favorite sports team — or that provide lasting impact — like a new skincare regimen,” Twitter’s revenue product lead, Bruce Falck, wrote in the post. The Shop Module will only become available to businesses with a Professional Profile, which Twitter first began testing in April to provide organizations, non-profits, publishers and creators with additional methods of displaying specific information about their business, including their address, phone number, operating hours and more.

Jamaica Sweeps Women's 100m Sprint at Tokyo Olympics

For the second time during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, a single country has taken all three spots at the podium. A week after Switzerland’s performance at the women’s cross-country mountain bike event, Jamaica has won all three medals in the women’s 100m race. Elaine Thompson-Herah took gold with 10.61 seconds (she is now the fastest woman alive after passing Florence Griffith Joyner’s 1988 Seoul Olympics record of 10.62), while Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson took silver and bronze. They both ran 10.74 and 10.76, respectively. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce now holds the record for having four medals from four different Olympic Games in women’s 100m. The three Olympians also have other chances to bring home more medals to Jamaica as all three will also be competing in this week’s 4x100m relay and 200m events.   Just a lil girl from BANANA GROUND who liked to run. BBC ICECREAM is Reviving Its Iconic OG BBC Logo Fitted Hat

If you were a follower of the streetwear scene in the early 2000s, then you certainly remember the wave that NIGO created with the BBC ICECREAM imprint. There’s plenty of gems that were birthed during this era of fashion, one of which was the BBC Logo Fitted Hat which was often spotted on iconic friends of the brand such as Kanye West and Pharrell. The hat originally launched in 2003 for Billionaire Boys Club‘s Season 1 and was one of the most rare items in that collection. Fast forward 19 years later, and the cap is slated to make its glorious return. From a design perspective, it’s been modernized with a new feel, fit and look. The Japan-made caps are adorned with the OG BBC emblem on the front and feature throwback details such as the BBC Helmet insignia on the squatchee and the Astronaut embellishment that’s skewed to the rear’s right panel. Two colorways are gearing up to drop including the OG denim iteration and a limited edition olive green variation. The caps will come in S, M, and L sizes and will be made available on July 23, 2021 via the NYC Flagship, Miami location, and the BBC ICECREAM site for $115 USD.

Justin Bieber Is the New Face of Balenciaga

Fresh from dropping its new Runner sneaker, Balenciaga has unveiled its latest campaign starring the one and only Justin Bieber. Typically, Demna Gvasalia steers away from celebrity endorsement (or at least working with them), often opting for something much more dystopian such as putting characters into a videogame for Fall 2021 or exploring the realm of deep-fakes. Despite this, Bieber fronts the Katy Grannan-shot campaign alongside the legendary French actress Isabelle Huppert and various others who frequently appear in Balenciaga’s work — notably Awar Adhiero Odhiang, Anania Orgeas, Isabelle Weldon Herouard, Minttu Vesala, Litay Marcus, Angel aka Emmanuel Culkin Mugisha, Abdou Diop, Taishi Suzuki, Hans Schmidt, and Eliza Douglas. In Grannan’s usual candid ways, the models pose in front of a recreation of a Los Angeles parking lot emotionlessly glaring into the lens. Her work is intimate and confrontational, somewhat unsettlingly voyeuristic at times because of how close the camera and subject are, and for this campaign, it’s translated into something that feels rather eerie — highlighting Grennan’s style under Balenciaga’s aesthetic. Bieber wears the latest pieces from the house, notably the aforementioned Runner sneaker and the reworked Neo Classic bag. He adorns an oversized leather jacket, a hoodie and trackpants, coming together for an ‘elevated essentials’ look. Huppert on the other hand is wrapped in an off-the-shoulder trench coat, holding a Balenciaga Hourglass bag for good measure.

HERON PRESTON x GENTLE MONSTER

Having recently been appointed creative consultant at Calvin Klein, Heron Preston’s eponymous label has unveiled its first-ever collaboration with eyewear specialist Gentle Monster. Revered for its experimentation of fusing culture and art into products, the futuristic South Korean label creates from the imagination. This latest collection sees Heron Preston’s signature “Spirit Level” design feature — first introduced on the heel of women’s boots — translated on a selection of sunglasses fit for the summer. Speaking on the collaborative project Preston explains, “We challenged ourselves to think of other ways the level could be applied across different product categories. The shape and construction of sunglasses is the perfect platform for this idea. The horizontal line that creates the temple on the side of the glasses directly relates to the line of a level. It was the perfect fit.” Three variations of the acetate frames and 100% UV-protected lenses will be made available including “Level 0 01” featuring black frames, green spirit level on one temple as well as Heron Preston’s bold orange branding on the other arm, “Level 0 C1” adopts a transparent frame with “Level 0 NY1” coming in a navy gradient colorway. The collection is rounded off with “Level 0 01(B)” — a special-edition, not-for-sale product boasting a black frame and blue spirit level accent. All models arrive with a soft eyewear pouch inside a hard case which unfolds into a functional spirit level. To celebrate the launch, Heron Preston and Gentle Monster are hosting an exclusive offline “Hide and Seek” event. Commencing in New York on July 31, the sunglasses will be free to take for lucky finders from three random spots in six cities, the last stop being LA on August 5. Location hints will be revealed on the day via both brands’ Instagram. The Heron Preston x Gentle Monster is slated for release globally on July 29, available on Heron Preston and Gentle Monster’s websites as well as select retailers.
