Nike Dunk Low Gets a "Valentine's Day" Treatment

Nike is kicking things off early to celebrate the month of love with a special edition release of the Dunk Low “Valentine’s Day.” The shoe comes in a team red and pink prime color scheme, the quintessential hues for cupid. The latest desirable Nike Dunk Low is constructed in various mix of materials that feature various textured underlays. With a twill base and a tumbled leather overlay, the design direction has been brought up a notch, stripping away hints of white from previous Valentine’s Day edition Dunk Lows. The 2022 iteration has been dubbed by some online as the “Lingerie Dunks” as the forthcoming silhouette comes with a pink-lace-inspired fabric that outlines the Swoosh. The crimson coloring and pink aesthetic make the shoe outstandingly bold making it a true celebration of love. A translucent pink outsole rounds out the design. Look out for the 2022 edition of the Nike Dunk Low “Valentine’s Day” in February. The shoe retails for $120 and will be available on Nike.

This Season, Prada Dominated the Slopes

Brand: ASPENX x Prada Linea Rossa Price: $1,970 - $5,400 Buy: Prada's website Editor's Notes: From Prada on Ice to the FW21 Linea Rossa collection, Prada basically owned skiwear this winter. As a sort of victory lap, the Italian company has issued a brief capsule in partnership with Aspen luxury retailer ASPENX. With brands as diverse as KITH and Gucci targeting the resort town, it's a good time to be a wealthy skier. Prada's ASPENX collection sweetens the deal, exclusively available online or in a dedicated ASPENX shop-in-shop. Sporting an illustrative take on the Linea Rossa red line logo provided by Aspen artist Paula Crown, the capsule keeps in line with previous Linea Rosso offerings in delivering both eco-conscious textiles and high-performance functionality. For instance, Prada ASPENX recycled nylon outerwear pieces are lined with Extreme-Tex, a unique multi-layered membrane of Prada's own design that's reportedly both waterproof and low carbon impact. Inside, Graphene padding distributes body heat throughout the garment to regulate the wearer's temperature. It's all part of Prada's big push to take a bite out of the luxury adventurewear market. As evidenced by the Prada Outdoor collections that launched earlier this year, the Italian company takes gorpcore seriously. So, though Prada ski gear is priced like its other luxurious outerwear pieces, it's all intended to perform as well as any technical garment designed by a more conventional ski gear company. Of course, it wouldn't be a seasonal sportswear collection without the requisite hardware: Prada appropriately issued Oakley-designed eyewear, snowboards, and even skis so you can properly slalom in style.

J. Cole Reveals He Told Dr. Dre to Sign Kendrick Lamar

In a recent Nardwuar interview, J. Cole revealed that he told Dr. Dre to sign Kendrick Lamar. “The Human Serviette” caught up with Cole at Day N Vegas earlier this year for an in-depth chat. Surprising the Fayetteville rapper, Nardwuar asked if J. Cole was the person that told Dr. Dre about K. Dot. “Who told you that? Who gave you that piece of information?” J. Cole said. “…The answer is, yes. I did. I’m not gonna say I was the first to tell him [...] I was like, ‘Yo, you gotta sign this kid from Compton.” Although Cole and Dre did talk about Kendrick during sessions on Detox, a member of Dre’s team already had an eye on the now-iconic rapper that signed to Aftermath back in 2013. Nardwuar then asked J. Cole if he wanted to sign Kendrick Lamar if he knew about him during the early stages of his career. “100 percent. I don’t know what I would’ve signed him to, you know what I mean? We didn’t have our business intact, but that’s how much I rocked with him at that time. I met him, and instantly was highly impressed. That would’ve been the first artist in my mind [to sign], but come to find out, he had bigger shit going on.” Taking place on the seventh anniversary of J. Cole’s Forest Hills Drive, Nardwuar presented the rapper with a series of fitting gifts while digging up obscure elements of his past. Check out Nardwuar’s J. Cole interview in full above.
