The “Sick Mode” artist appeared in La Quinta, California behind the DJ booth with DJ Chase B, playing some of his biggest hits. Lil Durk and Gunna Honor Virgil Abloh in New "What Happened to Virgil" Video

Lil Durk and Gunna have honored the life of late visionary Virgil Abloh in a new video for their collaborative track, “What Happened to Virgil,” directed by Cole Bennett and presented by Lyrical Lemonade. The clip pays homage to the late designer with multiple sets inspired by the former Off-White founder and Louis Vuitton artistic director, including Drake‘s Air Drake plane, which Abloh painted, and the Louis Dreamhouse. The visual begins with a quote from Abloh, reading, “Life is so short that you can’t waste even a day subscribing to what someone thinks you can do versus knowing what you can do.” Abloh died at the age of 41 on November 28, 2021, following a private battle with cancer. “What Happened to Virgil” appears on Lil Durk’s latest record, 7220, which was released on March 11. The 16-track album, which features appearances from Future, Summer Walker and Morgan Wallen, opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking Durk’s first solo chart-topping record. Durk is currently performing across the country on a 17-stop tour in support of the album, which is scheduled to wrap up at the United Center in his home city of Chicago on May 2. Telfar & Eastpak’s Not-So-Secret Collab Is Dropping Again Soon

In March, FBI Twitter unveiled Telfar's not-so-secret collaboration with Eastpak, the VF Corp-owned bag company. And, even after a round of blind pre-orders and individual drops, just know: it ain't over yet. Next up on the Telfar and Eastpak agenda, the collaborators are gearing up to properly launch their four-piece handbag collection at Eastpak and select retailers. During the next launch phase - which goes down on April 15 — you can expect to see the collection's shopper-turned-backpack in medium and large sizes. On top of that, the collaboration's mini shopping and Circle bag — a tactical canvas version of Telfar's pleather Circle bag — will also join the release, rounding off the Telfar x Eastpark offerings. Each bag, priced between £70-£200 (approx. $91-$260), boasts the familiar embossed Telfar logo joined by an Eastpak tag on the front. Eastpak's sturdy canvas dresses Telfar's cult-favorite shopping handbags, offering a more functional vibe in comparison to its go-to vegan leather counterparts. Eastpak's utilitarian approach to Telfar's bags sounds about right. After producing gear for the U.S. Army, I would say durability is deeply rooted in Eastpak's ethos and history. Luxury fashion can't seem to get enough of the Eastpak's practical aesthetic, as the accessory label has teamed up with MM6 Maison Margiela for a trippy bag collection and Undercover for bag-kets this year. It's safe to say Telfar is also fond of Eastpak's stylishly functional ways. Telfar-ites went hard selling out the pre-sale (even when they didn't know exactly what they were getting), so expect the same energy for these next drops.

The World's Coolest Radio Station Is Now Co-Signed By Bottega

Let it not be said that Bottega Veneta doesn't appreciate the arts. Having already brought back BUTT and its historic Andy Warhol campaign, the Italian luxury house has aligned with London media platform NTS for its very won radio show. NTS is the station of choice for tastemaking heads like Virgil Abloh, Carhartt WIP, and Slam Jam, with its armada of cutting-edge selectors informing the station's reputation as a high-brow cult fave. Perfect territory for Bottega, then. Doubly appropriate that the social media-shy luxury label would tap into the old school medium of radio. Admittedly, it'd be funny for a luxury label to partner with more of a morning zoo-type show ("Be the tenth caller, get a free Padded Cassette!") but NTS is definitely the right venue for a brand with Bottega's refined rep. The first Bottega Radio show was held on April 7 and will continue to go down every subsequent month this year, streaming free on NTS' site and Bottega Veneta's app. Bottega's NTS debut launched with a West End party — you really had to be there but even if you weren't, you can still stream the first episode of Bottega Radio, which saw Tim Zha (better known as Organ Tapes) and Como La Flor host Jazmin curating a mix of Latin rhythm, atmospheric ambience, and subdued electronica. Expect future Bottega Radio shows to bring in a similarly thoughtful guest hosts who reflect the house's quietly elevated aesthetic, equal parts contemporary and classic.

Apple Files Patents for Its Own Gaming Controllers

Apple appears to be designing its very own gaming controllers. According to new reports from Patently Apple, the tech giant has now filed several patents revolving around gaming controller designs to be used for both its iPhone and iPad ranges. The patents feature a multitude of designs ranging from a two-piece design that resembles the Nintendo Switch‘s Joy-Cons to a flat, rectangular device that almost looks like an NES controller with four buttons instead of two on the right side. In a patent that came afterward, a third controller was also featured with thumbsticks, reminiscent of a PlayStation controller with two joysticks placed in the center and an accompanying D-pad and action buttons on either side and hand grips extending down. While the former two are expected to work with Apple’s mobile devices, the latter seems to be able to connect with bigger machines such as its Mac line. As usual, the patents indicate that the technology is still at its early stages of development and there’s a chance Apple will never release them to consumers, so those interested should stay tuned for more updates to come.

BAPE x New Balance 57/40

After a blowout 2021 led by Teddy Santis' rising star in the 550, a whole host of collaborations ranging from Jaden Smith on the 57/40 to JJJJound on the 990 and Stone Island on the RC Elite V2, it's harder than ever to talk sneaker without talking New Balance. You don't need to be a NB diehard to appreciate and respect the levels being set by the brand. After going head-to-head with the Nike Air Max 1 for Air Max Day, making it crystal clear that the 550 is ready to continue its land grab on the Dunk Low and whetting our appetite for a year full of 990s, next up is a BAPE re-up. Touching down hot on the heels of the pair's 2002R collaboration, the latest recipe coming out of BAPE and New Balance's kitchen is a 57/40 two-parter. Hitting the net via Sneaker Bar Detroit, the two-piece pack is deep-rooted in BAPE's most iconic patterns and iconography for statement finishes. The first of the two is a bold, multi-colored render set on a white mesh base. Suede and leather overlays are made up of a mix of purple, pink, blue, and orange, while the oversized midfoot branding takes on a pick and mix BAPE head camouflage covering. Contrasting this louder pair is a monochromatic fixture made up of grey, black, and white shades. Like its counterpart, BAPE's iconic camo fills the branding hits while shark teeth dress the heel. This sneaker duo is receiving mixed reviews online, making it difficult to pinpoint how the release will perform.

Kanye West Drops Out of Coachella

Kanye West has pulled out of his headlining appearance at Coachella, according to a source via Variety. Ye was slated to perform on the closing night of the two-weekend festival, which is scheduled to take place from April 15 to 17 and April 22 to 24. Ye’s representatives have not yet disclosed a reason for the cancelation, nor has Coachella commented on the news. However, according to a source via Variety, Ye had not rehearsed or prepared for the performance. In February, Ye threatened to cancel his Coachella set if fellow headliner Billie Eilish did not issue an apology to Travis Scott for halting her show to help a struggling fan, shortly after the Astroworld tragedy. While Ye believed that Eilish had insulted Scott, who he had planned to bring out at this year’s festival, the “Happier Than Ever” vocalist commented on Ye’s Instagram post addressing the matter, stating that she “literally never said a thing about Travis” and “was just helping a fan.” Ye’s Coachella cancellation isn’t entirely shocking — in 2019, he dropped out of the festival prior to the lineup’s announcement because organizers would not build a massive dome for his performance. It is currently unknown who will replace Ye’s headlining set, though the official lineup poster, which was unveiled in January, includes an unspecified performance from Swedish House Mafia in a headliner-sized font. Stay tuned for more information.
