SUPREME SHARES THROWBACK PHOTOS FOR 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF LAFAYETTE STORE

April 1994 was the first month Supreme founder James Jebbia rented out a small storefront on Lafayette Street in New York City. 2019 marks the 25th anniversary of the opening of that location. Jebbia told Interview Magazine in 2009, “It cost me, like, $12,000 to open the store. Rent was two grand. It was like, “Hey, if we do five grand a week, then great!” We didn’t really do any business at first, but we did okay.” The downtown location was where Supreme sold its first T-shirt designs in 1994, the now-iconic Afro skater, Taxi Driver, and box logo tees, and over 25 years, the brand has since become an integral part of the city, collaborating with institutions like the New York Post, the New York Yankees, and the MTA transportation company, and issuing a limited box logo T-shirt following the September 11, 2001 attacks with proceeds going to charity. Supreme has opened additional stores in Los Angeles, London, Paris, and Brooklyn, plus a chain of doors in Japan, (rumors consistently swirl that San Francisco or European cities like Berlin and Milan are next on the list for Supreme flagship locations) but regardless of how Supreme grows its retail presence around the world, the Lafayette location represents the very nucleus of the brand. The OG location is currently undergoing its first major renovations, but there is no word on when the new space will open. For the 25th anniversary of the brand, friends, family and affiliates have been posting in support, including OG Stüssy affiliate Paul Mittleman and photographer Atiba Jefferson.   Dit bericht bekijken op Instagram 25 years ago, in April 1994, Supreme opened its doors on Lafayette St., New York City. NORDSTROM X NIKE LAUNCH THEIR FIRST MEN'S SNEAKER BOUTIQUE IN NYC

Nordstrom and Nike have officially brought their sneaker concept shop to New York City, launching their first-ever men’s boutique today at the department store’s West 57th St. flagship. This opening marks the sixth NxN outpost in the chain, following behind women’s locations in Toronto, Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver and L.A. The space is set to house a rotating selection of coveted Nike product. Other emerging and established fashion brands — such as Stone Island, Givenchy and Calvin Klein, which have all been merchandised in the current assortment — will also be included in the mix to broaden the range. Capping off the debut collection are several re-released Nike kicks, including the React Element 87, the atmos x Nike Air Max2 Light and the Blazer Mid ’77. Keeping its signature service options in mind, customers can expect NxN to offer three-hour same day delivery in NYC, buy-online/pick-up in-store capabilities, personal styling and sneaker cleaning. The launch will also incorporate a capsule from L.A.-based menswear staple RTH, as well as literature from VIDOUN. “This is not another fitness-only shop, or straight sneaker destination. We hope that this is a place where men come to discover unexpected product, find inspiration and take their personal style to the next level,” said Olivia Kim, VP of Creative Projects at Nordstrom, who designed the store along with Nike Design. PAUL POGBA & ADIDAS REUNITE FOR BASKETBALL-INSPIRED COLLABORATION

adidas has continued its ongoing collaboration with France and Manchester United footballer Paul Pogba. For the Spring/Summer 2019 collection, Pogba has taken inspiration from both his career as a footballer and his passion for basketball. The six-piece capsule covers footwear and apparel, with stand-out pieces including basketball jerseys and shorts referencing the collection’s influence. Other key pieces include track pants and a co-branded track jacket. The collection prominently features the unique “PP” logo, and comes in a red, black and white color palette in reference to the iconic Predator boots. For the footwear element of the collection, Pogba has taken the tooling from James Harden’s signature Harden Vol. 2 basketball shoe. The P+ sneaker comes in a predominantly white upper, offset with red Three Stripes and black detailing. The full collection is available from the adidas web store and select retailers now. In related news, take a look at adidas’ new MLS capsule for Earth Day.

HERE’S WHAT’S DROPPING AT SUPREME THESE DAYS

The Supreme drop list is a weekly ritual for diehard box logo fanatics. Every Thursday, Supreme releases a fresh batch of hysteria-inducing gear via its online store and IRL flagships (Japan gets the goods on Saturdays, btw). However, the brand doesn’t actually say what’s coming (hey, nobody said buying hyped streetwear was easy). Each week though, insider sources manage to get hold of a Supreme drop list, detailing everything that’s releasing each coming Thursday. To help out the many die-hard box logo fans out there, we’re bringing the Supreme drop list to light — making it easier than ever to get your hands on the week’s must-have pieces. While these lists are usually reliable, it’s by no means 100 percent accurate, so don’t say we didn’t warn you. So, what will Supreme release today? Read on to find out. FEAR OF GOD TEASES SS19 NIKE COLLECTION IN NEW CAMPAIGN FILM

Soundtracked by Bobby Womack’s “Across 110th Street,” the one-minute aesthetic finds a group of kids cruising down a country road. They are of course donning various Fear of God x Nike styles, ranging from Nike and NBA-branded sweats to the anticipated Nike Air Fear of God 180. Jerry Lorenzo has yet to announce when Fear of God’s new Nike collection will launch, so as always, be sure to check back with us for further details.   Dit bericht bekijken op Instagram our idea of the destination can blind us from the immediate journey before us... there’s nothing in this life you can take with you. no trophies. no championships. you only get to take what you gave... you are measured by what you give along the way, not by what you have in the end... the prophecy remains true and our peace in God or Fear of God rests in knowing His ways are beyond our understanding... we are not called to understand or run fast, we are simply called to endure. Ecclesiastes 9:11... as @2chainz said “this aint no practice life” ...every day is 9.11... rest easy nip. your race was an example that transcended time... #themarathoncontinues Een bericht gedeeld door jerrylorenzo (@jerrylorenzo) op 11 Apr 2019 om 4:58 (PDT)

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER IS ARGUABLY SUPREME’S EDGIEST COLLABORATOR YET

Supreme has revealed its latest high-fashion collaboration, this time with famed Parisian designer Jean Paul Gaultier. Gaultier is best known for his ready-to-wear label and couture collections of the ’80s, ’90s, and mid-’00s, as well as his seven-year tenure as creative director of Hermès. The new Supreme drop is, according to a quick survey of the Highsnobiety office, “strong,” one that has translated elements of Gaultier’s legendary design philosophy into a palatable range of core streetwear and a bogo-fied edition of his iconic Le Male fragrance. After learning his trade under the tutelage of Pierre Cardin, Gaultier showed his first collection in 1976. A young Martin Margiela was watching and later gushed to Vogue, “I was seized by an excitement I had never felt before.” Nine years later, Gaultier hired Margiela as an assistant. The Belgian designer would eventually make fashion history of his own, and two years under Gaultier helped to foster that.  Getty Images / PIERRE VERDY / AFP Gaultier earned his moniker as fashion’s enfant terrible with a procession of irreverent collections, often reacting to the world around him with devious alacrity. For Spring 2005, against the backdrop of France’s national debate on gay marriage, editors were invited not to a fashion show but to a “wedding,” with same-sex models walking down the “aisle” in a collection of kilts, loose satin tailoring, neon sportswear, and rusty orange denim.

DONALD GLOVER GAVE AWAY HIS ADIDAS SNEAKERS FOR FREE VIA AIRDROP AT COACHELLA

Donald Glover treated a handful of lucky Coachella attendees to a free pair of his as-yet-unreleased adidas sneaker collab. The Donald Glover x adidas Nizza collab doesn’t have a release date yet, but it seems pretty safe to assume it’s coming soon. Sneakers aren’t the only thing Glover dropped at Coachella. His long-awaited film project with Rihanna, Guava Island, was finally released.
