AMAZON LAUNCHES PROGRAM TO DONATE UNSOLD ITEMS TO CHARITIES

Amazon has recently been criticized for trashing millions of unsold items every year, with a French documentary claiming that the giant online retailer disposed of more than 3 million unsold items in France alone last year. To address these concerns, Amazon has now announced its Fulfillment by Amazon Donations program, its plan to donate unsold goods to charities. Taking place across its warehouses in the US and UK, Amazon’s latest plan to reduce waste and provide for those in need will see the donation of all unsold items from third-party sellers who store their inventory with the company. The initiative will commence September 1, and donating will become the default option for all of Amazon’s sellers, although they have the option to opt out. Unsold items will be distributed Stateside to nonprofits through the help of a charitable organization called Good360, with charities like Newlife and Barnardo’s taking the helm in the UK. “We know getting products into the hands of those who need them transforms lives and strengthens local communities,” said Alice Shobe, Director of Amazon in the Community. “We are delighted to extend this program to sellers who use our fulfillment services.”

OFF-WHITE™ DELIVERS PAINT-SPLATTERED WORK PANTS FOR FW19

Though they didn’t hit the Fall/Winter 2019 runway, Off-White™‘s recent graffiti-covered goodsrecently began rolling out to stockists around the globe. The most recent drop includes a pair of paint-splattered work pants, an item indicative of the brand’s playful approach to undermining workwear staples. Unlike Off-White™’s recent Futura collaboration, the jeans sport random paint splatters as opposed to Futura’s intentional scrawl, with a more expansive color palette granting the white jeans a touch of wanton playfulness, along with various black splashes for contrast. The pants are cut with a straight leg fit to achieve the effortlessly slouchy styling often courted by designer Virgil Abloh, complete with distressing down the outseam and hems for extra texture. A long, branded shoelace belt allows for an adjustable fit. Grab a pair of Off-White™’s seasonal jeans on Moda Operandi’s site for $855 USD.

Stay tuned with us as we get more info on potential box logo releases from Supreme.   UPDATE (August 10, 2019): Supreme has unveiled the first teaser from its upcoming Fall/Winter 2019 collection. This season sees the brand rework an image commonly referencing The Smith’s seminal Meat is Murder album cover, which was sourced from 1968 documentary In the Year of the Pig by Emile de Antonio. The cover features a vintage image of a soldier out in the field, with typography on his helmet highlighted. The image uses “Supreme is love.” in place of “Meat is Murder” in the text found previously on The Smiths cover, which originally stated “Make Love Not War” in the Antonio documentary. The graphic is printed all over atop a rugged denim jacket’s back side. While there’s no firm release date as of yet, the IG post refers to the collection as coming soon. In other news, Palace revealed its lookbook for Autumn 2019.

HAILEY BIEBER LEVELS UP SUITS WITH SNEAKERS BY ADDING A PAIR OF OFF-WHITE™ AIR FORCE 1S

Hailey Bieber made a strong case for pairing a suit with sneakers yesterday, strolling through Los Angeles in an outfit from Jacquemus’ Spring/Summer 2020 collection and styling it with a pair of “MCA” Off-White™ x Nike Air Force 1s. The outfit, loose-fitting and florally patterned, highlights how suiting is becoming ever-more liberated from its conservative associations and finding a new place in the fashion world of today. Styled with a plain white T-shirt and black sunglasses, Bieber shows that suits don’t have to be uncomfortable and can be assimilated into your everyday wardrobe with ease. The La Veste D’Homme suit was chosen by stylist Maeve Reilly and is notable for its oversized shape, menswear-like proportions, and summery blue patterning — which of course matches the sneaker’s colorway. You can expect to see more of the suit’s color as the year drips on, with “AI aqua blue” predicted to be the next big color trend, following the frozen yellow and neo-mint of recent times. Virgil Abloh’s highly coveted Air Force 1 “MCA” was first seen in May, when the Off-White™ and Louis Vuitton designer gifted a pair to Serena Williams, customizing them with the words “FOR SERENA ONLY” written in the designer’s signature quotations marks. The sneaker was eventually released last month.

TAKE A BEHIND-THE-SCENES LOOK AT KANYE WEST’S CUSTOM ‘RICK AND MORTY’ HOODIE

Last week, Kanye West was spotted stepping out of an office building in Burbank, California wearing a fire blue-and-white that shouted out one of his onscreen inspirations, Rick and Morty.  The artist wore an oversized hoodie covered in custom drawings by Rick and Morty illustrator Justin Noel and show co-creator Justin Roiland, among others. Take a look at some behind-the-scenes illustration shots shared on Instagram by Larry Jackson below.  Instagram / Larry Jackson The hoodie features a bunch of bonkers characters from the show, including the Arma HEAD on head, complete with “Show Me What You Got” quote and Scary Terry, as well as other illustrations and statements like “Yo Kanye!” and “Love & Peace.”  The design is very reminiscent of the YEEZY season five Handwriting piece that saw an adidas crewneck covered in text about child development.  That West is obsessed with Rick and Morty isn’t new information, of course. This is a man who claims to have watched every single episode of the show at least five times. In fact, he’s such a super-fan that Rick and Morty creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland once offered West his own episode, calling the YEEZY mogul a “fucking kindred spirit, genius, visionary.”
