First Look at the Fly Streetwear x Nike SB Dunk Low

2022 marks yet another successful year for Nike (NYSE:NKE -0.94%) and its many Dunk variants. With another year of countless colorways, collaborations and silhouette remixes almost complete, first looks at what’s in store for 2023 have started to pop up. To the surprise of no one, the Dunk looks to remain a go-to for the Swoosh in its upcoming release plans. Most recently, a collaboration with Chinese skate shop Fly Streetwear has popped up in partnership with the Nike SB team on the SB Dunk Low. Looking closer at this collaborative pair via early in-hand shots, the duo has put its own unique twist on the classic. First, a gray leather base at the upper is joined by blue suede overlays and a lime green shaggy suede heel tab. Its rope laces resemble actual ropes in off-white, matching the sneaker’s distinctive Swooshes. At the medial Swoosh, its typical shape can be found while the lateral mimics the look of a feather, going with the lateral heel’s embroidered stamp. Co-branding rounds out this pair’s key details, landing at the tongue and custom sockliner. Release for the Fly Streetwear x Nike SB Dunk Low is currently anticipated for early 2023 via Nike and select Nike SB retailers. Stay tuned for more release information and official images.

JAY-Z 2022 Net Worth Revealed To Be $1.5 Billion USD

JAY-Z has once again cemented himself as an all-time great, this time not just in the music industry, but as a businessman. It comes as no surprise that the world of hip-hop is a tough business, so to be one of the biggest rappers in the history of the game, Hov’s success is not only reflected in the charts but in his monetary success as well. Former Forbes editor Zack O’Malley Greenburg has recently released a list of the wealthiest hip-hop artists in 2022. In his list, Greenburg highlights JAY-Z as the richest, with a fortune of $1.5 billion USD. Hov’s status continues to grow after he became hip-hop’s first billionaire, paving the way for others in the industry. A large chunk of his wealth comes from his ownership in Roc Nation as well as his champagne company, Armand de Brignac. He has also taken up stakes in growing businesses including Rihanna‘s Savage x Fenty and D’Usse. Next in the billionaire category is Sean “Diddy Combs, coming in with $1 billion USD in net worth this year. With his continuous Cîroc partnership and other assets including DeLeón tequila and Revolt, on top of his music catalog, the artist is pushing well into the ten-figure territory. The artist formerly known as Kanye West has recently been in some hot waters lately. With the end of his adidas deal, Ye is no longer a billionaire. While that is the case, he still remains one of the wealthiest hip-hop artists, with a reported net worth of around $500 million USD due to his rights to his master recordings and music publishing, as well as his 5% stake in his ex-wife Kim Kardashian‘s shapewear company, Skims. Berner clocks in with a net worth of $410 million USD, thanks to his Cookies cannabis empire. The business is a foundation of his wealth and due to its unusual business structure, it could allow the rapper to one day buy out all the local partners and acreate a unified multibillion-dollar cannabis conglomerate. Currently he owns 30% of the company. The legendary Dr. Dre rounds out the top five with $400 million USD in net worth with his Beats partnership, music catalog and ongoing projects.

Islam Makhachev Defeats Charles Oliveira to Capture Lightweight Title at UFC 280

Heading back to the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the UFC recently held its UFC 280 event headlined by Charles Oliveira vs. Islam Makhachev for the vacant UFC Lightweight championship. Despite being confident in reclaiming the title he lost due to a missed weight controversy at UFC 274, Makhachev secured an arm-triangle choke on the ex-champion in Round 2. Aside from landing a submission win over the UFC’s submission leader, the victory was also special as it occurred in the same arena his mentor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, retired in. Additionally, Islam Makhachev gave his championship belt to Nurmagomedov and dedicated the fight to his late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. In the co-main event, Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling bested former champion T.J. Dillashaw with ground strikes in Round 2. Dillashaw was determined but an injury would result in his shoulder dislocating in the first round, hindering his ability to resist the champion. The main event card was rounded up by Sean O’Malley‘s shocking defeat of former Bantamweight Champion Petr Yan via a split decision after three rounds. Hacker Who Stole Unreleased Music From Ye, Frank Ocean, Lil Uzi Vert and More Jailed for 18 Months

23-year-old Adrian Kwiatkowski has received an 18-month jail sentence after he stole and sold unreleased music from the likes of Frank Ocean, Kanye West, Lil Uzi Vert, Post Malone and more. According to reports, the computer hacker admitted to “three charges of gaining unauthorised access to a computer, 14 copyright offences, two charges of possessing criminal property and one offence of converting criminal property” and confessed that he sold a Frank Ocean song for $1,000 USD, hacked his Tumblr page and the Dropbox accounts of Uzi and Posty and downloading material from Ye’s Dropbox. Kwiatkowski’s Bitcoin wallet was supposedly connected to a Coinbase account that was linked to a Lloyds Banks account, which received a total of £61,855 GBP between June 2018 and July 2019, and experienced 350 transactions between May 2017 and September 2019. There was £21,729 GBP in the Coinbase account during his arrest. “These offences caused damage to the music industry which has a significant importance economically, particularly to the U.K,” Judge David Pugh said during the hacker’s sentencing. “They also affected the artists whose personal lives were violated as the information you accessed was not just music, it was also personal details.” Prosecutor Edward Renvoize added, “This case is about the defendant’s unauthorised hacking of email, social media, and electronic storage accounts, his appropriation of music from those accounts and his sale/offering for sale of that music on the dark web in exchange for cryptocurrency.” Kwiatkowski’s electronic devices were searched in September 2019 after Ocean’s team informed the New York District Attorney’s office that someone was accessing, downloading and selling unreleased music from the Dropbox account of Ocean’s producer. London police discovered “evidence of the harvesting and recording of personal data including names, addresses, dates of birth, email addresses, passwords and photographs of celebrities and individuals connected to the music industry” on the devices.

The Nike Swoosh Blanket is Making A Comeback

In 2020, Nike Sportswear dropped its Swoosh blanket — a round-edged, four by six feet furry blanket that’s perfect for cozying up and lounging in winter. The product was unexpectedly well-received, so Nike is bringing it back in a new colorway, just in time for the cold weather ahead. The original blanket came in a classic monochrome design that featured a huge Nike Swoosh logo emblazoned across the front of a primarily black, faux fur blanket. Earlier this year, it was re-released in a light blue-gray and white color combo. Now, it’s back in a gentle light pink/ foam pink colorway. The blanket was a huge hit in the past and did not restock when it was sold out. But luckily, for this release, Nike also brought back the black-on-white colorway along with the new pink color. Like its predecessors, the new Swoosh blanket will be composed of 100% soft fleece, retailing at $1,399 HKD (approximately $179 USD). Take a closer look at the new color option above or head to the Nike website to check it out.
