BANG & OLUFSEN REFINES MINIMALISM FURTHER WITH LUXE "CONTRAST COLLECTION"

BANG & OLUFSEN REFINES MINIMALISM FURTHER WITH LUXE "CONTRAST COLLECTION"

High-end sound company Bang & Olufsenhas enlisted its fellow Danish design label Norm Architectsfor an eight-piece, limited-edition release called the “Contrast Collection.”

In the “Contrast Collection,” the the two brands have studied the combination of contrasting materials and tactile surfaces. As it states in its press release, Bang & Olufsen explores the “minimal and expressive, rough and smooth, light and dark, silence and loudness, harmony and noise.”

Keeping in tune with the typically minimalist approach we’ve come to expect from the two imprints, the “Contrast Collection” is made up of various muted shades of grey, complemented with brown leather and wood tones on equipment including the Beoplay A1 and the Beoplay A9.

Its exploration of contrasting materials resulted in the duo experimenting with aluminum. As a result, pieces that were once shiny and almost mirror-like have been treated to deliver warm and soft hues, developed at the anodizing treatment facility at Bang & Olufsen headquarters.

Completing these unique designs is a reimagined sound-transparent wool fabric covering the speakers. This collection now utilizes a wool and viscose fabric blend that originates from Kvadrat’s Hallingdal Fabric — the same company that provides all of Bang & Olufsen’s standard speaker coverings.

The collection is comprised of the Beoplay A1, Beoplay H9, Beoplay A9, Beosound Stage, the modular Beosound Shape, the Beosound Edge, and two premium portable speakers, the Beosound 1 and 2. Prices range from $250 USD to $3,800 USD, with all pieces available to purchase onlineand at B&O boutiques now.
